Boss Team Tech Support: Knowledge Base & Applications Hub

Privacy Policy

This page explains what team.bosslaser.com — the Boss Laser Support Hub — collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers this site, though several of the cookies below are set on bosslaser.com as a whole, so they also apply when you visit the main store. For Boss Laser, LLC’s company-wide statement, including the main store at bosslaser.com, see the Boss Laser privacy policy.

This site is a support and reference library. There are no user accounts, no comments, and no checkout here — the only information you give us directly is what you type into one of our two contact forms.

What you give us

Two forms on this site send information to Boss Laser. Nothing is required until you choose to submit one.

Machine and quote enquiries

Your name, email address, phone number and the best time to reach you, plus what you told us about the job: which machine series and model you are considering, the material, the process and operation, whether you are cutting metal and to what specification, your timeline, and any notes you add.

Support requests

Your name, email address, phone number and the best time to reach you, plus your machine series, model and serial number, the issue category and your description of it, what you have already tried, how often it happens, how urgent it is, whether the machine is under warranty, and any photo or video you attach.

If you used the on-site assistant

Some pages offer a guided assistant that helps you narrow down a machine or a fault before you contact anyone. If you use it and then submit a form, a summary of that conversation is submitted with the form, so the person who replies can see what you already worked through instead of asking you to repeat it. When the assistant hands you to a form, your choices (such as the machine series) and a short summary of the path you took travel in that page’s web address, so the analytics tools above can record them along with the page.

What we collect automatically

Like most websites, this one records how pages are used so we can tell which answers are working. We use the measurement and advertising tools below, and one of them deserves a plain warning.

  • Google Analytics 4 — pages viewed, roughly where visitors come from, and which links are used. Each visit is sent to three Google Analytics properties: G-0D9NVMN3QW, G-EWNJ4NRP92 and G-XCLWMSBJTS. Cookies: _ga and one _ga_ cookie per property, on bosslaser.com (about 13 months in Chrome). Because advertising consent is granted here, Google Analytics also sends each visit to Google’s advertising servers (stats.g.doubleclick.net).
  • Matomo — the same kind of measurement, hosted on an analytics server that EKG Marketing runs for Boss Laser rather than at an analytics company. It sets first-party cookies (_pk_id for up to 13 months, _pk_ses for 30 minutes, and _pk_ref for up to six months if you arrive from another site) and builds heatmaps on about 50 of this site’s pages. It does not record session playbacks.
  • Microsoft Clarity — usability measurement: heatmaps and session playback. In our test it set _clck (a year) on bosslaser.com, and Microsoft set its own cookies on clarity.ms and bing.com (MUID, CLID, MR, SM, ANONCHK, SRM_B); Microsoft says MUID is also used for advertising.
  • Jetpack Stats — basic traffic counts.
  • Our host’s visit counter — Pressable counts visits with Fathom Analytics (formerly Gauges), which sets no cookie.
  • Google Ads — measures which ad visits lead to enquiries. Cookie: _gcl_au (90 days), which Google says serves analytics, advertising and security purposes, plus a copy in your browser’s storage.
  • Microsoft Advertising — the same job for Microsoft (Bing) ads, through its tag (UET). In our test: _uetsid (1 day) and _uetvid (about 13 months) on bosslaser.com, MUID on bing.com, and copies in your browser’s storage.
  • CallTrackingMetrics — call tracking, which matches phone calls to the visits that led to them. In our test: __ctmid (30 days) on bosslaser.com and on this site, plus four entries in your browser’s storage.
  • Ad click IDs — if you arrive from an ad, the site saves the ad’s click ID and campaign tags (_gclid, _gbraid, _wbraid, _msclkid, _fbclid, _utm_*) as cookies on bosslaser.com for 30 days, so a quote request on bosslaser.com can be credited to that ad. (This site’s own code does this; our test didn’t arrive from an ad, so none were set.)

Session recording. Microsoft Clarity can record a playback of a visit (Matomo builds heatmaps but records no playbacks) — the pages you moved through, where you clicked, how far you scrolled, and mouse or touch movement. It is used to find pages that confuse people, not to identify you. Most policies bury this; we would rather you knew. If you would prefer not to be recorded, see Your choices below.

These tools also receive standard technical information your browser sends to any website: your IP address, browser and device type, and the page you came from.

Cookies and consent

This site loads its measurement and advertising tools through Google Tag Manager, and this site shows no cookie banner: Google Consent Mode is set to “granted” for analytics and advertising by default. The tools above load as soon as a page opens and set the cookies listed with them. Matomo, Google Analytics and Clarity set analytics cookies; Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising and CallTrackingMetrics set advertising and call-tracking cookies.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Nothing on this site stops working if you do. Microsoft’s handling of Clarity data, and the controls it offers, are covered by the Microsoft privacy statement.

Who sees what you send

Form submissions go to Boss Laser staff — the sales or technical support people who answer them. They are stored in this site’s own database and in Boss Laser’s contact records, and delivered by email through a transactional mail service.

We do not sell your information. The only parties who receive it are Boss Laser and the service providers described on this page, who process it on Boss Laser’s behalf. Those include the advertising tools listed earlier, which receive details of your visit, such as the pages you view, the ad that brought you here and whether you sent an enquiry, so Boss Laser can tell which ads work.

How long we keep it

Enquiries and support requests are kept for as long as they are useful to the relationship — a support history is genuinely worth having when the same machine needs attention two years later. Analytics data is retained according to each tool’s own retention settings. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.

Your choices

  • Ask what information we hold about you, and ask for a copy.
  • Ask us to correct it, or to delete it.
  • Ask us to stop contacting you.
  • Stop session recording yourself: Microsoft says Clarity supports Global Privacy Control, and a content blocker stops it. We can’t match an anonymous visit to a request, so we can’t exclude you by hand.
  • Block or delete cookies in your browser at any time.

You do not need a reason, and asking costs you nothing.
